Writing is hard

T-shirt - Cheap Monday  /  Trousers - Uniqlo  /  Shoes - Muji
I remember reading a quote from writer Charles Bukowski where he said, "writing is like going to bed with a beautiful woman and afterwards she gets up, goes to her purse and gives me a handful of money."

My reaction was, "but the sex isn't always that great though?"

I'm one of those people who isn't fortunate enough to have writing come as easily as it does to Bukowski. I mean, sometimes words just flow out of me and onto a page without too much of a struggle but those occasions are rare. Most of the time I'm sat at my laptop with thesaurus.com open in one tab and my hand hitting backspace every 10 seconds.

But still I come back to it. Partly because I have a freelance gig where I write and partly because I kind of love it. That is, until the next time I get writer's block.

Anyway, I'm going to try writing a few more thought pieces on my blog from time to time. Or just attempt to piece together my thoughts. We'll see what happens. One of the best things about blogging is there are no rules on what or how you have to write. It can be daunting but I'm thankful for the fact I have this outlet to dump all my thoughts in and write as much as I want. Or, if I feel like I'm having a crappy writing day, I know I can just cut things short and segway onto some outfit details.

And on that note, here's what I'm wearing. As much as I love wearing black, white, and blue, it was starting to get a little dull. I somehow managed to walk into some shops and ignore all clothing in those colours to come out with a pink t-shirt and brown trousers. I admit I tend to shy away from pink thinking it will make me look too cutesy but sometimes the trick is in the silhouette. Putting the whole outfit together was something a little different for me. And I liked it. I think I'll stick to this whole trying new things thing.

  1. most people think i have the skill to write but i myself find it difficult to write though writing def comes off way more naturally for me than speaking. verbal communication was never my forte and has always been a challenge for me.

i love it when bloggers pour their feelings and thoughts into a post. i think you'd know by now, after reading that post of mine (lol) but yeah, looking forward to reading more personal thoughts-related posts in the future! :D
writer's block sucks but it's def best not to rush a post. after all, quality over quantity, yeah? ;)

    1. I'm more comfortable with writing than speaking too. I mean with both I get my words mixed up but with writing I can edit things before I post them haha.
And thank you! I'm looking forward to writing more thoughts-based stuff. I love reading your thought pieces and other bloggers' so I just hope I can write things people enjoy reading too.

  2. I have been having writer's block as well :(
but I'm sure practice makes perfect
can't wait to read your thought posts

    1. It's such a pain isn't it?! But you're right, the only cure for writer's block seems to be to write anyway haha!
      Thank you Stevia!

  3. Looking forward to reading some thought pieces from you :) I'm no good at writing them myself, but I always love reading what's on the mind of other bloggers. I love your outfit by the way, those trousers suit you well!

    1. Thanks Mani! I think they're supposed to be culottes but they just fit me as regular trousers haha.
Also, you're not bad at writing your thoughts at all!
