The not so red summer

T-shirt - Monki  /  Skirt - New Look (similar here)  /  Mules - Topshop (all old)

As excited as I am for autumn dressing (LAYERS!), I'm always sad when summer starts to come to a close. I appreciate days when the temperature rises above 20 degrees and nights when the sun doesn't quit. I mean I'll be taking the fresh start that September offers up and pick up some of the back to school stationery when it goes on sale, but I'll also be listening to Summertime Sadness on repeat until August is up.

Summer also gives you a chance to mix things up with your wardrobe - like wearing fishnets with your all black ensembles rather than regular black tights. Ok, I might not have gotten round to executing my vision of a colourful summer wardrobe à la Red Velvet in Red Flavor, but there's always next summer. Plus, there are more ways to change up your style than just colour. This day I was feeling a more feminine silhouette made by some heels and a short flared skirt. I didn't feel like being too girly though, so I stuck to black and added the fishnets to pretend I have some sort of edge. This t-shirt is an old buy from Monki that I got in Hong Kong and the slightly abstract palm leaf print (at least I think that's what they're supposed to be) and the fact it was humid as hell outside when I bought it always remind me of summer.
