Jean Blues

Shirt - Zara  /  Jeans - Topshop  /  Shoes - Topshop (all don't seem to be in stores anymore)
I have to admit, when all the new denim trends started to make their way into stores and onto my Instagram feed, my reaction was 'cool, but why?'. I mean finding regular jeans that fit me is such a mission; I didn't wanna think about long frayed hems or embroidery or whatever else people were pulling off and looking amazing in. Then a trip to Topshop happened and I found myself staring at these jeans on the sale rack. It was more out of intrigue than attraction that I tried them on, and even then I wasn't sure whether I liked them. But they were interesting, they were on sale, and they kind of fit. So now I own jeans with front slits and frayed hems.

I haven't been able to wear them much lately because UK weather doesn't seem to understand how spring works and I don't want my ankles getting cold when I go out, but here's what I would be wearing if it was a little bit warmer. I kept things simple with a striped navy t-shirt and my mules which seem to be becoming a regular fixture of my outfit posts.

Review: COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad

Allow me to introduce you all to the new man in my life, Mr RX. A lot of you are probably familiar with him, but for those who aren't he's the mascot for COSRX, a Korean skincare brand that's been quickly gaining popularity for its acne destroying products.

When my friend Faaizah recently visited Hong Kong I asked her to keep an eye out for COSRX skincare. She brought me back the One Step Pimple Clear Pads and I've been using these for about a month now.

The product:  70 soaked cotton pads that claim to clean pores, prevent spots, and control excess sebum. Also I just want to mention that I love the packaging. Mr RX looks pretty fabulous on the lid.

The application: After cleansing, take a pad and gently wipe it on over the face. Use the embossed side first to exfoliate then flip it over to the smooth side to hydrate. I use one pad every night, usually waiting about 10 minutes before continuing with the rest of my skincare routine (or less if I just really want to go to bed).

The scent: Strong, mostly of tea tree.

The road test: My skin hasn't been that great for a while now. I'm still not sure what's causing it but I can say that the pads are helping. The morning after I applied the pads for the first time, my skin was noticeably clearer. Aside from a few stubborn pimples, it's kept most of my spots at bay so far and my skin has been smoother.

As for pore cleaning and sebum control, I can't say I've noticed a huge difference. Maybe if I used the pads in the morning I would be able to see if it helps with oil control throughout the day, but they leave your face feeling sticky so I prefer to use them before I go to bed.

One thing to note is that the product does sting a little when you first apply it but this seems to be quite common. I'm glad I knew this before I tried it out, otherwise I would've been worried.

The verdict: While the pads haven't completely cleared my skin, they have made a significant improvement. The pre-soaked pads are so convenient to use so I'll probably be repurchasing after I run out. I might even get a few other COSRX products to try out too!

Dubai Photo Diary

Last month, I jetted off to Dubai to visit some friends and see more of the U.A.E than just the inside of their airports. I was reunited with Monisha, my awesome friend from uni, and Swetha, another friend I met while she was studying here. What Monisha didn't know is that our other friend Faaizah was also coming along with her sister. I don't know how we managed to keep that a secret until the surprise (I almost let it slip several times) but we did.

What followed was a week of catching up and exploring the mind-blowing city that is Dubai. We also ventured out to Abu Dhabi to see the Grand Mosque and took a trip to the desert. I've heard some people say Dubai would be their nightmare destination - that it's all fake and manufactured with just lots and lots of sand. But there is something for everyone in Dubai and those who aren't willing to to open their minds to it are missing out.
