East Asian Brands To Watch

Tuesday, 2 February 2016

Recently, I've been looking to more and more East Asian brands for style inspiration (and to feed my online window shopping addiction). I thought I'd share some of my favourites:

J KOO was started by Korean designers Jinwoo Choi and Yeonjoo Koo. The pair both graduated from Central Saint Martins and launched their brand in the UK. I haven't managed to find where they're stocked here though. The designs give off a modern, low-fuss chic feeling which I think really gives the brand its edge.

I was reading an interview with Chinese designer Masha Ma where they mentioned her line MA by MA. The brand is an effortless blend of sporty and feminine styles. My one question is: when will this be available in the UK?

I discovered PLAYNOMORE through their collaboration with rainbow-haired model Irene Kim. Covering gorgeous leather bags in cute illustrations, they're a brand that injects a lot of fun into their fashion. The Shy Girl seems to be on its way to being the new It Bag. I've even spotted a few in London recently!

Olivia Yao

Olivia Yao is a Tawainese jewellery designer who makes delicate but awesomely unique pieces. I saw this brand in Taiwan at an Eslite and immediately fell in love with the collections on the tiny stall. The best part is there's an online store where you can order them!
