Catching Up

Hello! It's been a while since I last posted. Having a bunch of uni work and an unforgiving stream of unsuccessful graduate scheme applications has left me uninspired and unmotivated. Quick thanks to everyone who warned me about the final year of uni. You guys were right. It's tough.

I have missed writing a lot though. Well, writing that isn't essays and cover letters. Not that I mind them that much, there's just a lot of fun to be had in writing whatever you want on a blog. So now that I'm here, let's catch up!

Since writing my last post, I caved in and got myself a PS4. I missed playing video games and really wanted to branch out of Nintendo, so I went for it. Also, my laptop is sadly just not good enough when it comes to PC gaming but I am determined to play Undertale at some point. I've mostly been roaming the streets of Victorian London in Assassin's Creed Syndicate and I've also become some kind of post-apocalyptic urban planner/side quest addict in Fallout 4. My play style in that can pretty much be summed up as unconcerned parent. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be looking for my kidnapped son but in a world where there are ships stuck on top of buildings and endless settlements seem to need my help, it's easy to get distracted.

I also started watching Mad Men. I have a horrible attention span when it comes to TV shows. Usually I'll get about 3 episodes in and then completely forget about it but Mad Men has been an exception. I love the story, aesthetics, certain characters (you go, Peggy!) but it also makes me glad I wasn't a woman living back then.

As for the blog, I have some beauty reviews I've been meaning to get around to and I have a few outfits in mind that I'd like to post. However, posting will probably be a bit sporadic. I've been trying to think up new kinds of content I'd like to start writing but I don't really have anything figured out yet. I hope I can make this year a good one for this old blog though.

  1. Hi Belle! I feel you when it comes to grad school apps. I'm planning to start my PhD and I've been sending emails and filling up on-line application forms. It takes a lot of time and effort researching schools and scholarships and making motivation letters, etc. It's exhausting and frustrating especially if you don't receive a response/or a negative response from a prospective professor or the application is unsuccessful. Anyway, good luck to us! I hope you get into your school of choice. Always remember to never give up! =)

    1. Hi Pamella! Thank you for the kind words! I was actually looking for grad jobs but grad school applications also seem like tonnes of work. They're such a big investment too so you really want to make sure you get onto a good course. I hope you get into somewhere great and good luck to you too!

    2. Oh, sorry I got it wrong (plus all my rants about grad school apps). Thanks for clarifying and for your kind words. I wish you all the best in your job hunting and future career!

    3. No no it's fine! I may end up looking at grad schools anyway!

  2. I can only say.... WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD. I hear ya on the grad apps front, I've been applying for literally (I kid you not) three years and I can imagine how final year is packed with deadlines as well as grad schemes apps but you'll get there! Hope you're doing okay and happy belated new year's :)

    1. Hahaha thank you! And three years?! They're blind to not take you in immediately. Belated happy new years to you too!

  3. Life is like this.
    We work for a living.
We need to pause for a while sometimes and think.
