Beijing Diary Part 2: The Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, and Temple ofHeaven

Saturday, 17 January 2015

Getting to climb the Great Wall of China was definitely the highlight of the trip and one of the most amazing things I've ever done. We took the train from Beijing North Railway Station to Badaling for 6 RMB (less than £1!) and from there it's a short walk to the Wall.

The scenery was nothing short of incredible.

Entire armies scaled these mountains in the past. I would've taken one look at them and been like 'nah'.

We arrived back in Beijing at night and went to a restaurant just south of Tiananmen Square. I had to take a few snaps of the night views. This is the Monument to the People's Heroes.

Tiananmen Gate Tower.

We had dinner at Qianmen Street which has a lot of gorgeous old buildings. Hopefully I'll get to see this place in the daylight one day.

That's a pretty fancy Uni Qlo.

We actually went to the Temple of Heaven the day before The Great Wall but we only got to spend an hour there since the grounds close at 5pm. I still wanted to include it in a post though.
The Temple is where the emperors would come to pray for a good harvest each year.

Final part coming soon!
