Everything I do I do in slow motion

Shirt - Thailand, Skirt - Topshop, Bag - Dune

This is a bit of a late post seeing as these photos were taken last weekend. I would've posted them yesterday but my current on/off cold was fully on last night. I really need to start scheduling posts. Anyway, last Sunday I went to Yumchaa with a friend and tried their Caramel Sweetheart tea. It was quite nice but I think I should've added milk. After that my friend offered to take a million photos for my blog but we called it quits at about ten. The photos were taken on a cute, quiet Soho street that annoyingly wasn't quiet enough to avoid getting weird looks from people. I'm getting more used to that now though.

Since it was a warm Summer's day I wore this floral shirt with my trusty black skater skirt. I put on a black necklace to go with the skirt and brought my new-ish bag from Dune. I love the boxy, structured shape of it but sadly it's not a convenient everyday bag for me. It's quite heavy and it's pretty tricky to open it quickly and discreetly which isn't great when you just need to get something out of it for a short moment. Despite that it's gorgeous so I'm going to keep it until it's falling apart, then get it fixed to make it usable again.

The Legend of Korra Nails

I am definitely one for wearing my obsessions on my nails and when my friend suggested the element symbols from Avatar (the cartoon, not the film with the big blue people) I was like "that's a great idea!". It was perfect timing too, seeing as the new season of the Legend of Korra starts this Friday. I painted the elements according to the order in Korra's intro and tried to draw Raava's markings on my thumb. I'm just realizing that it's likely only a few of you reading this are going to have any idea what I'm talking about. If that's you, feel free to ignore me. If you are a fan of The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra and thinking "what Book 3 this Friday? That came out of nowhere!", then check out the trailer below:

Night Time Skincare Routine and Spot Killers

I'm trying something different again for this post! My skin has been pretty good since I've been sticking to this skincare routine for around 2 months now. It even held up during exam time which unfortunately hasn't been the case in previous years. I thought I could share the products I'm using and maybe this will be helpful for someone else. Maybe not. I should also mention that I have combination skin and I get spots from time to time.

Also I feel like I should put a disclaimer just in case to say that none of this was sponsored or anything like that. Everything was bought with my own money.

Cleanser: Jejubija Anti-trouble Facial Foam by Innisfree
I used to have an Innisfree BB cream until they discontinued it. It was made for people with skin problems like acne and it really did help my skin. So when I read about this product I was confident it would work. And it has! I get spots less regularly and when I do they're usually small (more on spot killing later). It's also pretty good at taking off most make up but you might need to use something else for eye make up. It leaves your skin feeling fresh after you use it too.
I bought mine from w2beauty since you can't get it in UK stores.

Toner: Wonder Pore Freshner by Etude House
This toner claims to minimize the appearance of pores which is why I got it. I'm not very attentive when it comes to my pores and sometimes I think there's a difference but other times I don't. Maybe that means it has helped with the elasticity of my pores? I'm not sure about that but I will still say it's a good toner. It does clean out my pores and helps with oil control.
I also got this from w2beauty due to Etude House not being in the UK. I wish they did open up a store here, they're so cute and pink.

Moisturiser: STEAMCREAM
I got this product since around February when I had pretty dry skin and was looking for something that would help. I kept coming across reviews of this product but I was put off by the £12.95 price tag which is more than I usually spend on moisturiser. I eventually decided to try it and I'm so glad I did. It really helped my dry skin and made my face nice and smooth again. You can also use it on your body and as hand cream.
I bought this from

When I do get breakouts I tend to use these right when I spot them (PUN!).

Tea Tree Oil: Everyone's probably heard of the savior that is tea tree oil by now. Sometimes I'll apply this directly to a spot using a cotton bud or I'll mix one or two drops with my moisturiser in my palm. I got this from Superdrug but it's also in Boots and other stores.

Savlon: I saw my friend commenting on Facebook about using Savlon on spots so I thought I'd give it a try. I apply the cream directly onto a spot and let it work its magic. It helps to prevent pimples or at least reduce the size of them. I bought my tube at Boots.

Honourable Mentions (a.k.a. I don't have either of these products right now to take pictures of): Sudocrem! I'm not sure if it works for nappy rashes but it's great for acne and I've been told it's good for dry skin. I've also used TCP liquid antiseptic on a spot and it had noticeably shrunk within two hours. However, this stuff smells very strongly and it's probably quite harsh on skin, so if you use it make sure to just dab a little bit directly onto the spot.

Thanks for reading this post! If you found it helpful please let me know. I like doing beauty posts from time to time but I'll keep this place as a mainly personal style and nail art blog. I guess nail art does count as beauty though.

Mini Shoes and Socks Haul

I don't normally do hauls but I thought why not start trying out different things on my blog. It's a pretty measly haul I admit, however I wanted to take the opportunity to show some of my new things and say 'look how friggin' cute they are!' Also, shoes and socks are a pretty rare sight on my blog. I really need to make the effort to take more full outfit photos.

Back to the haul. The socks on the makeshift clothes line are from Topshop. If I was only allowed to buy one type of clothing from Topshop for the rest of my life, it would be their socks. The cotton socks with the frills were covered by their 3 for £8 offer. I remember disliking socks like these in primary school but around 10 years later I've come to like them. The middle pair are sheer with daisies so I had to buy them. They were £4 which is more than I usually spend on socks but still reasonable.

I came across the shoes at Debenhams on Oxford Street. They're from Call It Spring and were a decent £35. I've been looking out for a pair of shoes like these with transparent parts or cut outs so I was excited to get these. The middle is made of mesh and they're very lightweight. Perfect for Summer!

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream

Shirt - Everours (old), Dress as skirt - H&M (old but they have similar stuff)
Star necklace - Orelia, Watch - Swatch

I went bowling for a friend's birthday the other day and I had no idea what to wear. My friend suggested a casual dress so I pulled out my mint H&M one. The downside of this dress is that it's pretty see through but I remembered I have this purple scalloped top that I often wear over dresses. I feel like I should have realised these two pieces went so well together before just based on their colours as they're such a good combination of pastels. I accessorized with just my cute star necklace from Orelia and a watch so I wouldn't be late for my friend (and I wasn't!).

Aside from attempting to bowl, I've been spending my spare time wisely by watching Disney movies. Aladdin, 101 Dalmatians, Monsters, Inc. etc. I also saw Maleficent this weekend which was pretty good. It wasn't as dark as I'd hoped but I'm not sure why I expected a less family-friendly film from Disney. However, I do think it's worth watching solely for Angelina Jolie who made an amazing Maleficent and wore stunning makeup. I need to hunt down the sold out lipstick now.

Minions and Monsters, Inc. Nails

I'm back! I have failed to post anything after my exams ended due to becoming a giant couch potato. When I'm not lazing around in my living room then I'm probably playing Child of Light, which is a great RPG except it tends to run very slowly on some laptops (mine included) so if you're thinking about getting it just be aware of that.

However, I was sort of productive on Monday as some of my friends came over and we cooked brunch together. After, some of them asked me to paint their nails and above is my attempt of the Despicable Me minions and Monsters, Inc.'s Mike and Sully. I forgot that painting other people's nails aren't as easy as doing my own but I still had fun making these. Also thanks to my friend for letting me take pictures of her hands and putting them on my blog!
