Daisy Nail Art

I know they aren't exactly Christmas themed but I had a sudden urge to paint daisies on my nails with my new dotting tool. I decided to use black, white and silver so they would have more of a Winter-feel to them. Also I was too lazy to paint snowflakes.

I'm currently listening to the Welcome to Night Vale podcasts whilst there is what sounds like a storm outside. How are you spending your holidays? Let me know in the comments!

Nails Inc Polishes - Hampstead Court and Old Street

Nails Inc - Hampstead Court (picture taken with flash)

Nails Inc - Old Street over Barry M black nail polish

A friend of mine got me the Nails Inc Best Dressed set for my birthday and I'm slowly making my way through trying on each of them. I love doing nail art but sometimes I just don't have the time to spare, so it's great to have some sparkly polishes that make my nails look awesome with minimal effort. I wore Hampstead Court (the silver fibre optic polish) for about a week and half and got so many compliments! Sadly, the polish on one of my nails completely chipped off when it snagged on a zip and I decided to take it all off. On the upside, it made way for trying out Old Street which is my favourite so far. I layered  it over black and did about two coats of it to build up the sparkle. I just hope this one lasts longer!

Adventure Time Nail Art

Since Summer is coming to a close and university much sooner than I would like it to, I thought I should do an intricate nail design before I don't have time to anymore. I'm currently obsessed with Adventure Time so I looked up some tutorials and tried out these nails myself. I used acrylic paint since it isn't as runny as nail varnish and I have a wider variety of colours, and you can easily mix them too. My left hand turned out a lot better than my right, but I'm still pretty proud of my LSP! The guy with glasses is meant to be Simon by the way, and if you don't know who he is then don't look him up because that would be a huge spoiler.

Let me know who your favourite character is in the comments!

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream - Quick Review

Another BB cream review! I bought this BB cream from eBay and have been using it for over a month now. It's pretty awesome so I thought another review was due.

The facts: SPF 42 PA+++, water-based, whitening, anti-wrinkle, 20ml

The packaging: It's not anything special although I do love the colour of it. You squeeze the product out through the nozzle which I prefer so much more than a pump. Pumps always dispense too much.

The coverage: It's pretty sheer but it does even out your skin tone. It won't disguise spots or dark circles too but it does minimize the appearance of pores.

The shade: One of the most awesome things about this BB cream is that it comes in five shades! I have it in the lightest shade #13 called Milky Beige. I think the original shades were #21 and #23, but they expanded to include #13, #27 and #31. If you're super pale then #13 will work for you!

The road test: It's not too thick so after a while you don't feel like you're wearing any makeup at all. It's also very natural looking so you don't look like you have anything on. I have noticed it does wear off a bit throughout the day though.

Overall: If you're looking for a product with light coverage with good sun protection then I would definitely recommend this. I also love how it matches my pale skin, no need to wait for it to oxidize or anything.

Watercolour Inspired Nail Art

I saw a tutorial for this nail art in Nylon Magazine a few months ago and I've been meaning to try it out. The tutorial only had two steps to it:
1. Paint a white base coat.
2. Make small diagonal lines using a thin brush with different colours.
And that was it! You don't have to be really precise or anything, just layer some colours on top of each other and it should turn out fine.

Yin Yang Nail Art

It's been a while since I've done a nail art post, mainly because I was lacking inspiration. I've been seeing Yin Yang nail art around quite a bit and couldn't resist trying it out for myself. I think they turned out quite well. I started out with a white nail polish for the base and then painted the black parts on top. To get the circles I used the bottom of a wooden chopstick. It wasn't too hard to do, but still it didn't turn out very well when I painted them with my left hand.

BB Cream Review: Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly

Hey everyone! This is my first beauty review! I haven't done one before because I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to makeup, however I wanted to do some BB cream reviews because I find them very helpful, especially when someone has a similar skin tone to me. I'm very pale. I think the asian genes sat out when it came to coding my skin colour (is that even the right term? I dropped biology after GCSE).

Anyway, moving on to the product. I bought this last year in Thailand and was saving it for when my favourite BB cream ran out (Innisfree's Trouble Care BB cream which has been discontinued).

The facts: SPF 20 PA++, water-based, matte finish, 40ml

The packaging: I think we can all agree that the flower-shaped frosted glass jar is extremely cute. If I hadn't heard good things about this product I may have got it just for the packaging. There is a downside though: the frosted glass makes it rather heavy. Not great for travelling or throwing it in your bag when you're in a rush and need to apply your makeup on the tube...

The product: Staying true to its name, this BB cream has a jelly-like consistency which is fun to poke with the built in spatula. The spatula is definitely useful but not the most hygienic method of getting the product out. I foresee me having to use something else to get the product out when it starts to run out. They also give you a sponge to help you blend the BB cream.

The coverage: It has a pretty light coverage so one layer won't hide your problem areas however it will make any dark spots or redness fade and appear lighter. It also minimizes the appearance of my pores. I like to build it up in certain areas like my under eyes or spots to get more coverage.

The shade: This BB cream comes in two shades. I have the lighter #1 Aqua Beige colour which is a little too dark for me, however the coverage is quite sheer and no one has asked me why my face looks slightly darker which is a good sign. BB creams also oxidise and this gets lighter on my skin after I've worn it for a while.

The smell: I quite like the scent but I hear some people really don't. It smells like a foundation product with an artificial floral scent added to it, and once you apply it to your skin you mainly get the floral scent.

The road test: I have been using this product for around two months now and I've been pretty pleased with it. I'd say my skin gets pretty oily and this product doesn't do a lot to combat that, however it doesn't make it worse. It's pretty easy to blend out since the jelly texture makes it slippery.

Overall: I'd definitely recommend this product for Summer because it's not too heavy on the skin and it does provide some sun protection. However if you're looking for something with more coverage or to help combat problems such as spots then this isn't the BB for you.

I hope you guys have enjoyed my first beauty product review! I'll mainly be sticking to outfit posts but I think it will be nice to do something like this every once in a while. Please let me know if you found this helpful or tell me if I've missed anything out!

American Flag Nails

I was doing a little clean up of all the photos on my laptop when I found this design I did two years ago, and what better day to post this picture than the 4th of July! I remember doing most of this design with a toothpick so it took forever, but in spite of the misshapen circles and wonky stripes I'm still pretty proud of it.

If you're an American then happy Independence Day to you! Also a belated Happy Canada Day to all the Canadians.

I'm leaving, are you coming with me?

I think the past few days are catching up on me. I haven't been this tired for ages and I've been feeling ill on and off, but I guess you gotta power through (and then nap).

So recently it was my school's prom! It's a nice occasion to mark surviving through secondary school. Our school holds two, one for the year 11's and then one for year 13's finishing Sixth Form, so this prom actually felt like an ending. As great as prom is, I'm sure most girls can agree that finding the right dress is a hugely stressful task! I searched every online store I could think of, determined not to buy something from the high street that someone else might wear. Eventually, the frustration took its toll and I opted to make mine. It was pretty easy to make since it's just a lace shirt and skirt with a slit. We also have an abundance of black lace in my house and I didn't want it going to waste. I wore a gold belt to tie it all together and then the gold theme spread to my nails, ring and eye makeup. Before I left, I had time to take some pictures in the garden, which I know isn't the most glamorous location for photos but I wanted a photo with the roses.

So have any of you attended prom recently? Tell me where you found your dress! Also I'm sure you've heard that Google Reader is shutting down on July 1st so if you want to keep getting updates from my blog then please follow me on Bloglovin.

Gold and Turquoise Nails

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a better weekend than I am. My exams start on Tuesday so I've mostly been inside revising. On one of my breaks I decided to do my nails. I didn't really want to go into the exam hall with bare nails and I'm not completely sure why, I guess it's kind of a good luck charm thing. This is pretty similar to the colour scheme I went with for my GCSE exams, except that was green and gold as I was thinking Harrods. It ended up looking like moss, though. I think the turquoise goes much better.

I'm not sure when the next time I'll update will be but after my last exam on the 18th I'll have my freedom. Good luck to everyone else taking A2's (or any other exam for that matter) and I'll see you on the other side!

Penguin Nails

Hello everyone! I hope you've been having a good weekend. Also a very happy Chinese New Year to those celebrating!

I feel like apologizing for not posting regularly recently. I've been kind of uninspired with my wardrobe and I haven't found anything new in the shops. I've also been a bit busy with school work and trying to be more sociable (it had become a foreign concept to me in the run up to exams). I haven't been that focused lately which I put down to exams being over and reading The Waste Land in English which I find so depressing but thought-provoking. Next week is a new week though (and new year for some!) so I can start over again and try harder.

To brighten up the mood these are the nails I did today. I saw them on Instagram and thought they looked pretty easy so I went for it!

Also, forget Valentines day, it's pancake day next week! Who's excited?

2NE1 Nails

These are possibly my favourite nails I've ever done. Being the huge kpop fan that I am, I painted the album art of my favourite group 2NE1 on my nails. They took a very, very long time and they aren't perfect but I was so proud of how they turned out. I only wish I had a better picture of them! I remember my friend asking me who they were and replying 'my favourite group'. He said that I was kinda sad, but then asked if I could do McFly ones for him.

Their cartoon versions also feature in their video for Hate You which you can check out here:

A Tale of Two Cities

I always forget that London has giant skyscrapers since they're all pretty much concentrated in one place. I stepped out of Canary Wharf station thinking I was in Gotham or something. Turned out I wasn't the only one thinking this as a German tourist walked past and said "which one's the Wayne tower?" to his friend.
It was a huge contrast to Greenwich where I spent the day doing what I do best - wandering around aimlessly. It's a really pretty place and you kind of forget you're in London, until you walk up the hill in the park and see the skyscrapers in the background. I just wish there had been clear skies today, it looks like someone rubbed out the top of the buildings.
